We are saddened and shocked to hear news today of the sudden death of Deacon Johnny Garcia, a dedicated servant of God. For so many years, Deacon Johnny has been a steady presence at our parish joyfully sharing God’s all embracing love. We will dearly miss him. May Christ now receive Deacon Johnny into His loving embrace. Details of his funeral are as follows.

West Michigan Catholic Charities puts on this yearly event and is a fun time for families! There will be food, games for the kids and some free items! A Raffle will also be held.
Tickets are $5 each and are available at the stadium. We will carpool from the church parking lot for those who need rides.
Fr. Fred Hoesli, O.P., will celebrate his 50th Anniversary as a priest on June 11. A reception will be held Saturday, June 28 after the 5:00 p.m. Mass. We congratulate Fr. Fred on his many years of commitment to the priesthood!
Sister Noella Poinsette, osf is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana. Her parents, Richard and Mary, were loving parents of three girls and one boy. Both were in professions in which they served others (Richard as a city firefighter and Mary as a registered nurse). Her family enjoyed picnics, kayaking and hiking at state parks.

Since 1998 Rome and the US conference of Catholic Bishops have allowed individual Bishops to decide if Ascension is celebrated on the Thursday of the sixth week of Easter, or transferred to the following Sunday to make this importaint celebration available to more people since attendance on mid-week holy days is typically much less than on Sundays.
Most bishops in the United States, including our own, have opted to celebrate the Feast of the Ascension on Sunday.
