Job Title: Manager – St. Vincent de Paul Center

The St. Vincent de Paul Center is a ministry of St. Francis de Sales Parish – Holland.  The St. Vincent de Paul Center is a neighborhood food pantry and thrift store serving Ottawa County, primarily residents in the city of Holland.  We are supported by donations and with the support/partnership of other area non-profits.

Position Summary:

The Manager oversees all operations of the St. Vincent de Paul Center, including the food pantry, thrift/resale area, and food rescue program. This role ensures that those in need are served with dignity, volunteers are supported, and resources are managed effectively in accordance with parish and diocesan policies. The Manager also provides strategic direction for the Center’s growth and impact, consistent with its Catholic mission.

Reports To:

  • Parish Business Manager / Pastor

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct daily operations of all Center programs and services.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers and part-time staff.
  • Manage food and supply inventories, ordering, and distribution.
  • Maintain financial and operational records; prepare reports for the board and parish leadership.
  • Build partnerships with community organizations, donors, and local agencies.
  • Communicate regularly with parishioners, donors, and the broader community.
  • Ensure compliance with parish, diocesan, and food safety policies.
  • Uphold the Center’s Catholic mission and values.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance and expand services.

Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership, organization, and team management skills.
  • Experience supervising volunteers and part-time staff.
  • Ability to manage budgets, inventory, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual a plus.
  • Compassion for serving low-income families, immigrants, and vulnerable populations.
  • Proficient in standard computer programs (databases, spreadsheets, email).
  • Ability to lift and move donations as needed.

Schedule:

  • Based on operational needs. Includes regular Center hours, volunteer coordination, meetings, and occasional evening/weekend commitments.

Job Title: Parish Secretary

St. Francis de Sales parish is driven by our mission to grow passionate disciples of Jesus Christ. The administrative office work that takes place in our parish, facilitates the work of growing passionate disciples and helps our parishioners experience the love of Jesus Christ through our service and hospitality.

Position Summary

Successful candidate will be able to work as a team member to provide direct support for the pastor, managers and staff, as well as meeting the needs of parishioners who contact the office via phone, email or in-person. Ability to work in fast paced changing environment. Able create a nurturing welcoming front office culture through coordinating volunteer activities. Support the vision, mission, goals, and objectives of St. Francis de Sales Parish.

Reports To:

  • Operations Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:          

  • Motivation – A strong knowledge and experience with Catholic Teachings, beliefs and practices.
  • Education – associate’s degree in administration or related field, minor in Spanish desired or equivalent experience.
  • Experience – Previous documented experience in an administrative or secretarial position.
  • Knowledge and Skills – Ability to work in a team environment as well as individually with the motivation to complete assigned duties in a timely manner. Knowledge of computer software including, but not limited to, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, Outlook, and church data management software. Ability and desire to learn new software. Excellent time management and organizational skills.  Excellent verbal and written communications skills in both English and Spanish required.

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Tend to the needs of parishioners who contact the office via phone, email or in-person.
  • Coordinate office volunteers and direct their activities.
  • Prepare parish mailings, announcements (including printing),
  • copying, labels, etc.
  • General support such as copies, filing, messages, calendars, and
  • administrative support using spreadsheets and other documents.
  • Provide translation services as needed
  • Provide administrative services to managers and program staff to
  • meet their specific needs.
  • Provide translation services for other staff members
  • Ability to coordinate office staff volunteers to ensure smooth running office environment.
  • Update the Facilities Calendar on the computer to reserve space for parish and other events
  • Assist in keeping the Pastor’s calendar when the person requesting an appointment speaks only Spanish.
  • Attend staff meetings as required.
  • Other duties assigned by your supervisor.
