Stewardship | Corresponsabilidad

As passionate disciples of Jesus Christ, stewardship is our grateful response to God’s mercy and generosity. Out of joy and gratitude for all God has done for us, we live this out through our Prayer, Service, and Sharing.

Como discípulos apasionados de Jesucristo, la corresponsabilidad es nuestra agradecida respuesta a la misericordia y generosidad de Dios. Con alegría y gratitud por todo lo que Dios ha hecho por nosotros, lo demostramos y vivimos esto a través de nuestras oraciones, servicios y compartiendo lo que tenemos.

2024 Stewardship Pledge | Compromiso de Corresponsabilidad

We are a Church on a mission to grow passionate disciples of Jesus Christ.  We are committed to building a culture of stewardship based on sacred scripture whereby our grateful sharing of our first fruits, we lead others to encounter Jesus Christ.

  • Stewardship of Prayer. We grow our personal relationship with Jesus in daily prayer. As good stewards of our time, we set aside for God part of each day He has given us.
  • Stewardship of Service. God has blessed each of us with unique gifts to bring us joy and to serve others. In gratitude for these gifts, we nurture and offer them to the Church and to the world.
  • Stewardship of Sharing. Grateful for God’s generosity to us, we joyfully share our financial resources. We carefully consider the needs of our church and the poor when we set our budgets.

Somos una Iglesia con la misión de crecer como discípulos apasionados de Jesucristo.  Estamos comprometidos a construir una cultura de corresponsabilidad basada en las Sagradas Escrituras mediante la cual compartimos con gratitud nuestras primicias, y guiamos a otros a encontrar a Jesucristo.

  • Corresponsabilidad de la oración.  Hacemos crecer nuestra relación personal con Jesús en la oración diaria. Como buenos administradores de nuestro tiempo, apartamos para Dios parte de cada día que Él nos ha dado.
  • Corresponsabilidad de Servicio.  Dios nos ha bendecido a cada uno de nosotros con dones únicos para traernos gozo y servir a los demás. En gratitud por estos dones, los nutrimos y los ofrecemos a la Iglesia y al mundo.
  • Corresponsabilidad de Compartir.  Agradecidos por la generosidad de Dios con nosotros, compartimos con alegría nuestros recursos financieros. Consideramos cuidadosamente las necesidades de nuestra iglesia y de los pobres cuando establecemos nuestros presupuestos.

What is a steward?

  • Greek: oikonomos, from oikos – house and nomos – law; manager of the household
  • Someone entrusted with the goods of another to preserve and profitably administer

Why are we stewards?

  • Because God is creator and we are his creations.
  • “This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 Moreover it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy…[I write so] that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another. 7 For who sees anything different in you? What have you that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if it were not a gift?” (1 Corinthians 4:1-7)

What does this mean?

  • All is gift: existence, life, gifts, time, goods
  • Proper response to gift: gratitude

What is purpose of stewardship?

  • Live in gratitude
  • Lead others to encounter Jesus Christ: bring people into communion with God.

Stewardship of Prayer

  • CCC, 2280: “Everyone is responsible for his life before God who has given it to him. It is God who remains the sovereign Master of life. We are obliged to accept life gratefully and preserve it for his honor and the salvation of our souls. We are stewards, not owners, of the life God has entrusted to us. It is not ours to dispose of.”
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
  • Exodus 20:8-10: “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work; 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work.”

Stewardship of Service

  • 1 Peter 4:7-11: “The end of all things is at hand; therefore keep sane and sober for your prayers. 8 Above all hold unfailing your love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Practice hospitality ungrudgingly to one another. 10 As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who utters oracles of God; whoever renders service, as one who renders it by the strength which God supplies; in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”
  • Matthew 25: Parable of the Talents
  • Augustine on True Worship: acts of mercy done for the sake of uniting us to God. Relieve misery (bodily and spiritual) to make happy (union with God). Love God and love neighbor as self.

Stewardship of Sharing

  • CCC, 2402: “In the beginning God entrusted the earth and its resources to the common stewardship of mankind to take care of them, master them by labor, and enjoy their fruits. The goods of creation are destined for the whole human race.”
  • CCC, 2404: “In his use of things man should regard the external goods he legitimately owns not merely as exclusive to himself but common to others also, in the sense that they can benefit others as well as himself.” The ownership of any property makes its holder a steward of Providence, with the task of making it fruitful and communicating its benefits to others, first of all his family.”
  • CCC, 952: ““They had everything in common” (Acts 4:32-35). “Everything the true Christian has is to be regarded as a good possessed in common with everyone else. All Christians should be ready and eager to come to the help of the needy . . . and of their neighbors in want.” A Christian is a steward of the Lord’s goods.”

¿Qué es un corresponsable?

  • En griego: oikonomos, de oikos – casa y nomos – ley; gerente de la casa
  • Alguien a quien se le confían los bienes de otro para preservarlos y administrarlos con provecho

¿Por qué somos Corresponsables?

  • Porque Dios es creador y nosotros somos sus creaciones.
  • “Así es como se debe considerarnos, como servidores de Cristo y corresponsables de los misterios de Dios. 2 Además, se requiere de los corresponsables sean dignos de confianza… [Escribo así] para que ninguno de ustedes se envanezca a favor de uno contra otro. 7 Porque ¿quién ve algo diferente en ti? ¿Qué tienes que no hayas recibido? Si lo recibiste, ¿por qué te jactas como si no fuera un regalo? (1 Corintios 4:1-7)

¿Qué significa ésto?

  • Todo es don: existencia, vida, talentos, tiempo, bienes
  • Respuesta adecuada al regalo: gratitud

¿Cuál es el propósito de la Corresponsabilidad?

  • Vivir en gratitud
  • Llevar a otros al encuentro de Jesucristo: llevar a las personas a la comunión con Dios.

Corresponsabilidad de la oración

  • CIC, 2280: “Cada uno es responsable de su vida ante Dios. Es Dios quien sigue siendo el soberano Dueño de la vida. Estamos obligados a aceptar la vida con gratitud y conservarla para su honor y la salvación de nuestras almas. Somos administradores, no dueños, de la vida que Dios nos ha confiado. No es nuestra para disponer de ella.
  • 1 Tesalonicenses 5:16-18: “Estad siempre gozosos, orad sin cesar, dad gracias en todo; porque esta es la voluntad de Dios en Cristo Jesús para vosotros.”
  • Éxodo 20:8-10: “Acuérdate del día de reposo para santificarlo. 9 Seis días trabajarás, y harás toda tu obra; 10 más el séptimo día es sábado para Jehová vuestro Dios; en el no haréis obra alguna.

Corresponsabilidad de servicio

  • 1 Pedro 4:7-11: “El fin de todas las cosas se acerca; por lo tanto, manténganse cuerdos y sobrios para sus oraciones. 8 Sobre todo, tengan un amor inquebrantable los unos por los otros, ya que el amor cubre multitud de pecados. 9 Practicad la hospitalidad unos con otros sin desgano. 10 Cada uno, según el don que ha recibido, utilícenlo los unos para con los otros, como buenos corresponsables de la multiforme gracia de Dios: 11 el que habla, como quien habla las palabras de Dios; el que presta servicio, como quien lo hace por la fuerza que Dios da; para que en todo sea Dios glorificado por medio de Jesucristo. A él pertenecen la gloria y el dominio por los siglos de los siglos. Amén."
  • Mateo 25: Parábola de los Talentos
  • Agustín sobre el Culto Verdadero: actos de misericordia hechos para unirnos a Dios. Aliviar la miseria (corporal y espiritual) para hacer feliz (unión con Dios). Amar a Dios y amar al prójimo como a uno mismo.

Corresponsabilidad de Compartir

  • CIC, 2402: “En el principio Dios confió la tierra y sus recursos a la administración común de los hombres para cuidarlos, dominarlos con el trabajo y gozar de sus frutos. Los bienes de la creación están destinados a todo el género humano”.
    CIC, 2404: “En el uso de las cosas, el hombre debe considerar los bienes externos que legítimamente posee no sólo como exclusivos de sí mismo, sino también comunes a los demás, en el sentido de que pueden beneficiar a los demás tanto como a sí mismo”. La posesión de cualquier bien convierte a su poseedor en corresponsable de la Providencia, con la tarea de hacerla fecunda y comunicar sus beneficios a los demás, en primer lugar a su familia”.
  • CIC, 952: “Todo lo tenían en común” (Hch 4, 32-35). “Todo lo que tiene el verdadero cristiano debe ser considerado como un bien poseído en común con todos los demás. Todos los cristianos deben estar listos y deseosos de acudir en ayuda de los necesitados. . . y de sus vecinos en necesidad.” Un cristiano es un corresponsable de los bienes del Señor”.
