Just a brief synopsis of what happened to Ascension Thursday.

Since 1998 Rome and the US conference of Catholic Bishops have allowed individual Bishops to decide if Ascension is celebrated on the Thursday of the sixth week of Easter, or transferred to the following Sunday to make this importaint celebration available to more people since attendance on mid-week holy days is typically much less than on Sundays.

Most bishops in the United States, including our own, have opted to celebrate the Feast of the Ascension on Sunday.

There is no obligation to attend mass on what used to be Ascension Thursday.

We'll see you on Sunday, when we celebrate the Ascension of The Lord!
