Four men will be ordained into the priesthood June 4, 2016; The four men are: Thomas Cavera, Daniel Schumaker, Colin Mulhall, & our own Jegar Fickel. Please keep Deacon Jegar and the other men preparing for the priesthood in your prayer.
After 21 years of her presence among us as a director of outreach, social justice education, migrant and immigration ministry, Sister Pat will be moving to her community’s retirement center in Farmington Hills, MI. She will leave us in late June, and we will offer a time of farewell on the weekend of June 11 & 12.
This summertime Tom Eggleston (pastoral associate at Our Lady of the Lake) and Hope College philosophy professor Dr. Joe LaPorte will be leading a discussion and faith sharing group for young Catholics. The ultimate hope of the group is to facilitate a deepening of one's lived faith experience through short readings on the topic of Personalism, a favorite topic of Pope St. John Paul II and Pope Francis.
There will be a special day of Eucharistic Adoration in the chapel here at St. Francis from 9:00 am - midnight on Friday, June 3 to pray for the four men who will be ordained to the priesthood the following day at the Cathedral in Grand Rapids, including Deacon Jegar Fickel of our parish.
Our children and youth ministries are closing out for the year. It's been a great year working with so many of our parish families. We look forward to working with everyone again next year. Pope Francis' Encyclical "Amoris Laetitia" (The Joy of Love) was released April 8, 2016. It was a much anticipated post-synodal apostolic exhortation of Pope Francis that is a planned response to the Synod on the Family.
