Four men will be ordained into the priesthood June 4, 2016;  The four men are: Thomas Cavera, Daniel Schumaker, Colin Mulhall, & our own Jegar Fickel. Please keep Deacon Jegar and the other men preparing for the priesthood in your prayer.

Celebrate the ordination of four seminarians
to the priesthood for the Diocese of Grand Rapids
10 am on Saturday, June 4
at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Grand Rapids.

Fr. Jegar’s first Mass of Thanksgiving
will be at 10:30 am on Sunday, June 5, here at St. Francis,
and will be followed by a reception in the Multi-Purpose Room.
All are invited to attend these celebrations. 

There will be a special day of Eucharistic Adoration in the chapel from 9 am to midnight on Friday, June 3 to pray for the four men who will ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Grand Rapids the following day.  Click here to learn more and sign up for a time to pray in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.  We are hoping to have at least two people signed up per hour for adoration. You can sign up via our website or our Facebook page, or you can just show up.

Deacon Patrick Jegar Nelson Fickel, 28, is the son of Daniel and Mary (deceased) Fickel of St. Francis de Sales Parish, Holland. He has ten siblings: Asya, Zach, Iern, Turan, Taeg, Ambrose, Chevron, Anna, Jacob and Aletta. He attended St. Louis University for three years.
After discerning a vocation to the priesthood, he entered St. John Vianney Seminary at the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minn., where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 2013. He received his Master of Divinity degree in spring 2016 from the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He was ordained a transitional deacon on June 6, 2015.
Deacon Fickel completed his pastoral internship at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Wyoming, under the mentorship of Father Stephen Dudek.
Mass of Thanksgiving: He will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 5, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 195 W. 13th St., Holland.
Pastoral appointment: Effective July 1, 2016, as announced by Bishop Walkowiak, Father Fickel is appointed parochial vicar of St. John Vianney Parish, Wyoming.

Estamos haciendo adoración al santísimo en preparación de la ordinación de cuatro hombres que se van hacer sacerdotes. Necesitamos que la gente se inscriba para estar con el Santísimo en oración.
