Our parish is blessed to be journeying with eight adults and young people who will be celebrating sacraments of initiation this Easter Vigil. Four of them will enter the Church through the Sacrament of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist – Dale, Nicholas, Charlette, and Isabella. Three of them will be received into the Catholic Church and celebrate the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. One who is already baptized in the Catholic Church, will celebrate the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.
Saturday, February 25th, our parish celebrated the Rite of Sending where our celebrant, sponsors, and community prayed over our catechumen and candidates affirming their readiness and our resolve to support them in this journey. Our catechumens will then be referred to as the “elect.”
Sunday, March 5th, our four candidates will celebrate the Penitential Rite at our 8:30 am Mass. Later that day, our catechumen and candidates along with their sponsors will go to the bishop for the Rite of Election and the Call to Continuing Conversion. The next three weeks following that, our parish will celebrate the scrutinies with our four elect.
Let us pray with new resolve for these eight people as they move closer to celebrating the Sacraments of Initiation that they continue to grow in the faith and in the love and knowledge of God.
Nuestra parroquia tiene la bendición de viajar con ocho adultos y jóvenes que celebrarán los sacramentos de iniciación en esta Vigilia Pascual. Cuatro de ellos ingresarán a la Iglesia a través del Sacramento del Bautismo, la Confirmación y la Eucaristía: Dale, Nicholas, Charlette e Isabella. Tres de ellos serán recibidos en la Iglesia Católica y celebrarán los Sacramentos de la Confirmación y la Eucaristía. Quien ya esté bautizado en la Iglesia Católica, celebrará los Sacramentos de la Confirmación y la Eucaristía.
El sábado 25 de febrero, nuestra parroquia celebró el Rito de Envío donde nuestro celebrante, patrocinadores y la comunidad oraron por nuestro catecúmeno y candidatos afirmando su disposición y nuestra determinación de apoyarlos en este viaje. A nuestros catecúmenos se les llamará entonces los “elegidos”.
El domingo 5 de marzo, nuestros cuatro candidatos celebrarán el Rito Penitencial en nuestra Misa de 8:30 am. Más tarde ese día, nuestro catecúmeno y candidatos junto con sus patrocinadores irán al obispo para el Rito de Elección y el Llamado a la Conversión Continua. Las próximas tres semanas después de eso, nuestra parroquia celebrará los escrutinios con nuestros cuatro elegidos.
Oremos con nueva resolución por estas ocho personas a medida que se acercan a la celebración de los Sacramentos de Iniciación para que sigan creciendo en la fe y en el amor y el conocimiento de Dios.
