One of my roles as Director of Evangelization is to assist the pastor in coordinating the process of pastoral planning. Over five years ago now, a group of parishioners went through a several month process to discern our parish mission – Growing Passionate Disciples of Jesus Christ - and what we value as we live as a Catholic faith community – to worship, to grow, to evangelize, and to love. In continuation of this planning over the year, our parish creates a year plan on how we are being called to continue to live as a missionary community. Over the last several months, Fr. Luis and the parish leadership team have been working with the staff, pastoral council, and finance council to discern key priorities for the coming year especially incorporating insights from Fr. Luis who has a unique view of our parish coming to us new this past August. As we look ahead to fall 2023, we are focusing on three key priorities - volunteer pipeline, hospitality, and continuing to grow as passionate disciples of Jesus Christ.
Volunteer Pipeline
We believe that every member of our community has gifts and talents to share in our community of families, and we want to provide opportunities for everyone to get involved and make a difference. To that end, we are looking to identify new key ministries that should be added in the coming year, forming a process for inviting parishioners into volunteering and cultivating new leaders, and leveraging tools like our Realm database to make more connections.
Hospitality
We believe that offering radical hospitality sets the table for an encounter with Jesus and one another. Hospitality is an essential part of our mission as disciples of Jesus. By continuing to enhance the current community gatherings we host for prayer and fellowship such as the Novena to our Lady of Guadalupe and the Lenten Retreat, and by adding a few other opportunities to gather as a whole community, we hope to strengthen our parish community and provide a welcoming environment for people on the fringes to encounter God. We believe these gatherings will not only provide a platform for people to get to know one another, but also an opportunity for parishioners to share their experiences of faith by giving witness to what God has done and is doing in their lives.
Discipleship
Our discipleship plan has been a work in process since 2019 where we’ve created a process of encounter, equip, and witness. For the coming year, we want to turn our attention to how we are supporting leadership among and for our youth, supporting parents in raising their children, and supporting parishioners with apostolate ideas.
Planning, Next Steps
To move forward with planning, we recently held an initial meeting with parishioners to form three distinct task force groups to plan each of these priorities for the coming year. The task force groups will meet throughout the summer to detail a plan for each priority.

We're excited about the direction that the Holy Spirit is guiding our parish, and we're grateful for your ongoing support and participation in our community. We know that God has great things in store for our community, and we're eager to see where He is leading us in the months and years ahead.

Uno de mis roles como Director de Evangelización es asistir al pastor en la coordinación del proceso de planificación pastoral. Hace más de cinco años, un grupo de feligreses pasó por un proceso de varios meses para discernir nuestra misión parroquial: Cultivar discípulos apasionados de Jesucristo y lo que valoramos al vivir como comunidad de fe Católica: adorar, crecer, evangelizar y amar. Como continuación de esta planificación durante el año, nuestra parroquia crea un plan anual sobre cómo estamos siendo llamados a continuar viviendo como una comunidad misionera. En los últimos meses, el P. Luis y el equipo de liderazgo de la parroquia han estado trabajando con el personal, el consejo pastoral y el consejo de finanzas para discernir las prioridades clave para el próximo año, especialmente incorporando las ideas del padre. Luis quien tiene una visión única de nuestra parroquia viniendo a nosotros el pasado mes de agosto. Mientras miramos hacia el otoño de 2023, nos estamos enfocando en tres prioridades claves: canalización de voluntarios, hospitalidad y continuar creciendo como discípulos apasionados de Jesucristo.
Canalización de voluntarios
Creemos que cada miembro de nuestra comunidad tiene dones y talentos para compartir en nuestra comunidad de familias y queremos brindar oportunidades para que todos se involucren y marquen la diferencia. Con ese fin, estamos buscando identificar nuevos ministerios clave que deberían agregarse el próximo año, formando un proceso para invitar a los feligreses a ser voluntarios y cultivar nuevos líderes y aprovechar herramientas como nuestra base de datos Realm para hacer más conexiones.
Hospitalidad
Creemos que ofrecer una hospitalidad radical prepara la mesa para un encuentro con Jesús para todos aquellos con quienes entramos en contacto. La hospitalidad es parte esencial de nuestra misión como discípulos de Jesús. Queremos utilizar eventos especiales que ya existen, como la Novena, el Retiro de Cuaresma y algunos eventos adicionales para que sirvan como un recurso no solo para fortalecer nuestra comunidad al dar la bienvenida intencionalmente a aquellos en la periferia de nuestra parroquia y ofrecer una oportunidad para otros feligreses y dar testimonio de lo que Dios ha hecho en sus vidas, es decir compartir su experiencia de fe.
Discipulado
Nuestro plan de discipulado ha sido un trabajo en proceso desde 2019 donde hemos creado un proceso de encuentro, equipamiento y testimonio. Para el próximo año, queremos centrar nuestra atención en cómo estamos apoyando el liderazgo entre y para nuestra juventud, apoyando a los padres en la crianza de sus hijos y apoyando a los feligreses con ideas de apostolado.
Planificación, próximos pasos
Para avanzar con la planificación, recientemente llevamos a cabo una reunión inicial con los feligreses para formar tres grupos de trabajo distintos para planificar cada una de estas prioridades. Los grupos de trabajo se reunirán durante el verano para detallar un plan para cada prioridad.
Todavía estamos buscando personas a las que les gustaría servir en estos grupos de trabajo. Estamos entusiasmados con la dirección en la que el Espíritu Santo está guiando a nuestra parroquia y estamos agradecidos por su continuo apoyo y participación en nuestra comunidad. Sabemos que Dios tiene grandes cosas reservadas para nuestra comunidad y estamos ansiosos por ver a dónde nos lleva en los meses y años venideros.
