In 2015 the US and many other nations committed themselves to ending hunger by 2030; experts tell us this goal is feasible. However, the budget being proposed by President Trump and many members of Congress threatens to cut funding to programs that are necessary to keep this commitment. Moreover, the at-risk programs—for example, SNAP (food stamps) and the Earned Income Tax credit for low-income workers—affect many people right here in our own parish. Our parish-wide Offering of Letters will be held on March 25/26. Meanwhile, please contact your members of Congress now and urge them to support programs that help end hunger.
