What is Alpha

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over eleven weeks. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone is welcome.

What to Expect

First Up There’s...Food

Whether it’s a group of friends gathered around a kitchen table, or a quick catch-up over coffee and cake, food has a way of bringing people together. It’s no different at Alpha. We start with food, because it’s a great way to encourage community and get to know each other. 

Then a...Talk

The talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. Generally thirty minutes long, they can be given as a live talk or played as a video. They explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions such as Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith? 

Followed by...Discussion

Probably the most important part of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. There’s no obligation to say anything. And there’s nothing you can’t say. It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.

September - November 2023

Our next Alpha Course for adults will begin on Wednesday, September 13 and Alpha Sprouts for families with young children will commence in January 2024. Our next Alpha Course for teens in grades 8-12 will begin in September 2023. More details will be made available soon.

Alpha (adults & young adults 18yrs +) - Beginning Wednesday, September 13

At this time, all of our sessions take place at the parish in the Lower-Level of the church building from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Alpha (for grades 8-12) - Beginning September 2023

Our Alpha team is excited to host the Alpha Course in a format designed for middle-and-high schoolers.  In these small groups (for families who have already registered), tweens and teens will have the opportunity to gather in a similar format to the Alpha Course for adults. 

Alpha Sprouts (family-based, for grades 1-7) - Beginning January 2024

Our Alpha Sprouts team is excited to offer sessions for families of elementary children that are based on the themes presented in the Alpha course.  For parents who have already participated in their own Alpha Courses, their children are invited to experience Alpha Sprouts.  This winter, families will gather in small groups to hear about and discuss together the big questions of life.
