Thank you to the 229 households who have returned your pledge cards for the 2010 Catholic Services Appeal. We have reached 75.40% of our goal, but still need to raise an additional $26,257.45 to reach our goal.

Reverse Mission 2011
A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of welcoming home a dear friend, Sr. Joan Williams. Years ago she shared her musical talents and leadership with us planting the seeds of a wonderful music ministry program. We had the opportunity to hear about Sr. Joan’s ministry with the people of Honduras and were invited to share in that ministry. I want to thank you for your hospitality to her and generosity in supporting the missionary work of the Dominican sisters.
Recently, I have been in communication with Fr. Steve Dudek about jointly leading a Reverse Mission experience to Oaxaca, Mexico. As many of you know he has lead many on profound experiences of mission to parishes in Oaxaca in the past and would like to combine his next one with our sister parish of San Andres Chicahuaxtla. I look at this as a wonderful opportunity to reestablish communication with the parishioners of San Andres and to join with other people of our diocese on a Reverse Mission experience.

The Covenant Program, a daylong retreat has been designed to provide this common experience. In addition, it will clarify expectations of membership at St. Francis.
Although certain groups of parishioners are required to attend as part of their sacramental or Quinceañera preparation, all new parishioners are encouraged to attend. It is our hope that over time, this program will reach all parishioners.
The Covenant Program is designed to be a “one-time experience”. Therefore, when parents have attended in preparation for marriage, they do not need to attend again in preparation for their first child’s Baptism. Or after they have attended for their first child’s First Communion, they do not need to attend again for younger children.

Dear Parishioners:
The first steps of our diocesan planning process are well under way. We are one of the first three deaneries that have been chosen to initiate this process. Last week there was a meeting of our deanery (which roughly consists of Ottawa County) held at St. Mary’s, Marne. The Meitler Consultants presented to representatives of our parishes and schools the preliminary results of the initial meetings of pastors, principals and parish leaders. They also have collected some data about the area parishes and schools. We had the opportunity to discuss some trends and their implications for our parish life.
