Preparation for Quinceanera 2011

Please contact the church before January 21, 2011 (392-6700).  Quinceaneras are held 5 times each year at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, and need to be scheduled at least one year in advance of the celebration.    Dates are on a "first come-first serve basis.  You will need to pay a $200 stipend to reserve the date. The dates for the communal Quinceaneras are:  May 21, June 18, and July 16, 2011.


GOALS OF THE QUINCEANERA PROGRAM



  • Provide a welcoming atmosphere for the quinceañera, her family and friends

  • Celebrate a meaningful liturgy

  • Honor the Hispanic Culture

The family of the quinceanera should be active and registered parishioners for at least 6  months before the anticipated Quinceañera celebration, attending Mass regularly.  The Quinceañera should be participating actively in youth ministry and parish life.


REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PREPARATION:


The quinceanera and her parents must attend the following:



  • Two preparation workshops on Friday, January 21 and Febuary 11, 2011.  Both workshops begin at 6:00 p.m. 

  • The Quinceanera Retreat: To be announced.

  • The Quinceanera Mass rehearsal.

In addition, the parents need to attend the Covenant Program which is offered four times each year.  We ask that you register in advance for the Covenant Program by calling the Faith Formation Office at 392-6700.

Question:


Does the young lady celebrating her Quinceañera need to be confirmed?


Answer: 


Generally when a young lady celebrates her Quinceañera, she is in the 9th grade, and the sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in the 9th grade.  However, we ask that the family and the young lady make a commitment to their faith and register for Faith Formation Classes.


Question:


If the young lady and her family change their minds about celebrating her Quinceañera here at St. Francis, can we get our money back?


Answer:


If you cancel the celebration before the first workshop takes place, you can receive $100 back.  If you cancel after the first workshop, no refund will be given.
