Our parish continues to work with the diocese, look to the local and state health department for guidance, and have a team of parishioners (including health care professionals) and staff who are guiding our parish's policies regarding the current COVID-19 pandemic to create a safe environment for all those who desire to celebrate Mass at St. Francis de Sales.  Because a parish community – and our society - requires mutual trust and a commitment to the common good, everyone is asked to make the best decisions for others as well as for themselves when it comes to using mask and social distancing.  Below are details in regarding our policies and procedures for weekend Masses and other large liturgical events.

Diocese of Grand Rapids Updated Communication

What to know….

  • All in-person participants are encouraged to monitor their health before participating in Mass in person.  Those who are diagnosed with or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or another contagious illness are encouraged to participate via our live streamed Mass option from home.
  • Masks are not required though they are welcomed by those who use them.
  • Ushers and staff are available to help you find a seat if you wish to sit more social distanced.
  • Here is a prayer for Spiritual Communion if you are home sick or quarantining in place of receiving communion - Spiritual Communion.

Other Health and Safety Measures...

We’ve made several significant improvements to our facility in the time since we’ve re-opened our doors in May of 2020. We continue to more regularly clean high-touch surfaces between masses and during the week. We also added hospital-grade air purification to the HVAC system, touchless faucets and hands-free door openers in the bathrooms, and more.

In addition to in-person safety measures, our parish has worked hard to offer weekly live stream of four of our five weekend Masses so that the homebound and those staying home due to illness can still celebrate the sacred Mass with the community.
