Hope College Campus Ministry

Hope Catholics

The parish of St. Francis de Sales extends to you a warm welcome and an invitation to worship at our parish. Over the years we have grown very fond of the students who come to be part of our parish during the years they’re in college. We do not view Hope students as visitors but as beloved members of our community. Hope College and St. Francis de Sales parish enjoy a covenantal relationship in which the parish staff and college’s campus ministry work closely together to minister to Catholic students. Both communities also pray for and support each other often in many other ways.

St. Francis de Sales is located on 13th Street, about four blocks to the west of Hope. It is an easy distance to walk.

Although worship is available on campus, some Hope students have also been involved in parish life in different ways. Some join us in worship of God and fellowship at our weekend Masses. Others have served as ushers, lectors, choir and/or Eucharistic Minister.  Most recently students have become involved in our very dynamic youth ministry programs as mentors. The Saint Benedict Institute, located at Hope College, is a ministry of the parish (see below).

The best ways to get plugged into what is going on for Catholic students at Hope is to visit the Saint Benedict Institute website or to sign up for the Hope Catholics email list. You can do this by reaching out to hopecatholics@hope.edu.

The Saint Benedict Institute is a missionary apostolate of St. Francis de Sales Parish.  The Saint Benedict Institute seeks to promote and nurture intellectual work done from the heart of the Catholic Church, to foster an ecumenical community of Catholic Christians and friends committed to the renewal of culture, and to aid in the formation of intellectually and spiritually mature Christians by making available the riches of the Catholic tradition to Hope College, St. Francis de Sales, and the wider community.
