Somali Hunger Crisis -
Lives Are at Stake in East Africa
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is responding to the escalating humanitarian crisis that is causing extreme hunger for more than 11 million people in East Africa and is asking for our financial support. To answer this call for help, Catholic Charities West Michigan and the Diocese of Grand Rapids are facilitating an East Africa drought relief collection on behalf of CRS. To learn more or to donate online please visit the diocese web site at www.dioceseofgrandrapids.org. Donations can also be made by check, payable to Diocese of Grand Rapids, and mailed to: Diocese of Grand Rapids, 360 Division Ave. S, Grand Rapids, MI 49503-4501. In the check memo, please indicate: CRS – East Africa drought relief.

Bread for the World Offering of Letters
This year, we are sending two basic messages. First, we are urging Congress to resist efforts to cut programs that help our hungry brothers and sisters. Second, we are asking for reforms of our system of foreign assistance, to make it more efficient and more effective in reducing hunger and poverty. In fact, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, Catholic Relief Services, and Bread for the World are all making these same requests.
