Protecting God's Children
PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN
Saturday, January 15, 9:00 a.m. – noon
All parishioners, especially parents and grandparents, encouraged to come
Protecting God’s Children (PGC) is a 3-hour program required of all parish volunteers who regularly work with children. At St. Francis, we have trained 174 volunteers since the program began in 2004. However, as I travel throughout the diocese facilitating this workshop, the most prevalent comment on the evaluation form is something like “All parents should attend this! I learned so much.” The program educates and trains adults about the dangers of child sexual abuse, the warning signs of potential abuse, the ways to prevent it, and the methods of properly reporting suspicions of abuse. On Saturday, January 15, 9:00 a.m. – noon, we will again offer Protecting God’s Children. All parishioners are welcome, with a special encouragement to parents and grandparents. The program will be offered in both English and Spanish. Let’s fill the multipurpose room and the flex space! We ask that you register on-line in advance by going to http://www.virtus.org/virtus/ and clicking on “Registration”.
You will be asked to select your “organization” – click on Grand Rapids, MI. If you cannot make it to this session of PGC, plan ahead for the next one scheduled at St. Francis on January 15, 2011.
