The Baker, the Midwife and the Candlestick Maker: A Week in Bethlehem

Date:
Wednesday, December 16, 2009 - 6:30pm

Marilyn Torborg will share her experience of staying with an Orthodox Christian family in Bethlehem.  Her stories and slides will offer a glimpse of daily life in a family united in love and tradition, within a city divided by walls, fences, military checkpoints and interreligious challenge.

Marilyn Torborg holds a Masters in Pastoral Studies from Catholic Theological Union and serves as the Director of Faith Formation here at St. Francis de Sales Parish. In 2004 she spent 3 months in the Middle East as part of a biblical studies program.  In Spring, 2009, she returned to Bethlehem where she stayed with Shibli and Samira Abu farha and their family, and attended a conference at Tantur Ecumenical Institute in Jerusalem.
