School is a little too quiet today. We have bid goodbye to our 8th grade class. Everything that was special about each one of them leaves behind a void. All year they have been pushing against leaving – claiming that they are done and ready to move on to high school. Truth is they will be dearly missed and thought of often as they transition to their new schools. Our eight graders will be heading off in different directions – Catholic Central, West Catholic, Holland, West Ottawa, Zeeland East, Zeeland West, and Holland Christian. We will look for them to stop by on occasion with full bragging rights.
Next week the rest of our students will participate in Field Day and final activities. They are eagerly anticipating whatever summer brings. It is the different rhythm of following the sun instead of a clock on a wall that opens everything up. Regular outings to the beach or nightly ice cream runs after dinner are all the routine that is required. I hope you enjoy the unexpected this summer.
Thank you for a wonderful first year.

We hope all of the students and their “Special Persons” enjoyed Special Person’s Day last week! With Home and School funds, we were able to purchase a new microphone and boom stand to improve the sound projection in the gym. We thank Caroline Monahan for researching and purchasing the necessary equipment so all could enjoy those angelic voices!!

Attention Students and Families: The Second Annual St. Francis Summer Festival is coming up on July 30th, 31st, & August 1st. Please put it on your calendars! With games, live music and ethnic food, there is a lot of fun to be had. We hope to see all of you there! Middle School kids, please stop by Ms. Giroux's room. We need help all three days of the festival with games in the Family Fun tent. And we can use your help; you can get some of your service hours done having a great time with your friends!
Thanks for your help! Shawn Byrne 269-751-5768
You Can Make a Difference for Our School with Box Tops! For the 2009-2010 school year, we were able to double our earnings from the previous year by raising $796! This money will help buy paper for the school to reduce or eliminate what the parents must purchase! Please help beat our 2010/2011 goal of $700 by collecting Box Tops over the summer. Simply neatly cut out the Box Tops, put them in a plastic baggie and, when school resumes, put the bag in the label collection box in the office. Ask your neighbors, friends, and relatives too! Every Box Top is worth 10 cents for our school and every cent adds up to hundreds of dollars.
You can find a complete list of participating products at boxtops4education.com. Common brands with Box Tops include:
Ziploc
General Mills Cereal
Pillsbury
Yoplait Go-Gurt
Juicy Juice
Bisquick
Betty Crocker
Huggies
Hefty
Fiber One
Hamburger Helper
Cascadian Farms
Nature Valley
Thank you for making this program a success!
Sincerely, Alysia Appel, Box Tops Coordinator for Corpus Christi Catholic School
Pond Project Update:Enhancements to the outdoor classroom continue! The addition of decorated stepping stones placed near the pond was initiated by Miss Giroux's middle school students. Then, last week, seventy additional stepping stones were created and placed around the back of the pond by our 4th and 5th grade Girl Scout troop! Various bird houses, constructed by middle school students as a part of Friday Focus, have also been installed recently at the pond. Next, be on the watch for a semi-circle set of benches to be added, coordinated by former CCCS student Justin Reamer as his Eagle Scout project, scheduled for completion in the next couple months. This wonderful project will provide seating for a class working in the outdoors! Many thanks to all who are helping transform this area into a wonderful learning environment!!!
